A Word From the Wise

A Word From the Wise

A Poem by Erica Ross

It baffles me the way that people talk sometime
If you listen to most conversations, do you know what you will find?
Ninety percent of the time, you will be listening to someone whine..
Whine about what others have going on and how they are living there life
Whether they're keeping up with the Jones' or not, the conversation is not likely to be nice
People rarely talk about the important things that need to be said
And they wonder how the wickedness of the youth is being fed
When did we as a people become so judgmental?
I guess it was the switch-over from adolescent to the "grown up" state of mental
However, that is funny, because it seems that we are the most mature when we are the youngest
We are supposed to live above the influence, but how can we when we are IT?
Life and death is in the tongue
Speak words of the wise and not the foolishness of the young
Life would probably be a little better if we would mind our own
But for now I guess I will have to sit back and oversee the changes from my throne
