Sweetness Of

Sweetness Of

A Poem by Alice
"

Life is good when it tastes like lemon ice, sea salt, and suntan lotion.

"

Backs on the grass,

Eyes to the stars,

Your smile.

Summer nights and days I will not let my self forget-

I promise to remember-

To run, to laugh like children,

Unburdened by the weight of experience.

To Know nothing of tomorrow-

And not to care.

This is freedom-

This is life as it should be lived.

Bicycles and tan skin,

Hair bleached from salt and waves.

Love like you will never feel at any other time.

Heat that you can not ignore,

But will never remember,

Because life is so good,

when it tastes like lemon ice,

Sea salt and suntan lotion.

Drive with the windows down,

music blaring,

arms stretched out like wings.

Know now that is the best it will ever get,

And don’t feel let down when I say “I told you so”.

Replay it in memory,

Reenact in life.

Every fourth season is home,

Life,

Liberty,

The pursuit of happiness.
