Thoughts (Reality)

before i tell you

what i need to say (no way, i can't)

i want to savor

the way you're looking at me (you're looking at me)

because after

it won't ever be the same (can i really do this?)

you'll never see me

and you'll stop thinking that (keep your eyes on me)

i'm beautiful

you'll never look me in the eye ("you're beautiful")

and tell me i'm so beautiful

because you'll be disgusted (oh god, here it comes)

that you're with someone

who's messed up like me (it's out there now)

and you'll stutter, you'll start

not knowing what to say (you didn't say anything)

as i'll sit crying

trying to be brave (you pulled me in even closer)

about what i knew you would say:

"maybe now isn't the best time for us" ("i still think you're beautiful")

or

"i don't know how this will work" ("i still love you")

and i'll say i understand

because really i do (where did i find a guy like you?)

i would leave too

later on i'll cry ("under a bridge"-ali)

because i did this to myself

and i hope not to you ("don't worry")

i've been soiled for life

a dirty, worthless being ("you're not disgusting")

so before you know

i'm going to savor how (how you're STILL looking at me)

you simply just look at me

because after (you'll still love me)

it will never be the same

this is a really nicely crafted piece of writing. it show so well how communication works. and how our own thoughts can be so out of line. at least in this case, the communication will take place. too often those thoughts simply remain thoughts and nothing gets resolved. excellent writing.
