Chimera

Chimera

A Poem by K.P.H.M
"

noun; a thing that is hoped or wished for but in fact is illusory or impossible to achieve.

"

I cannot be alone with my thoughts,

They put in me in a box.

Thinking away the hours,

Drunk on their power.

It’s why must imagine the window of my mind,

Has pulled back the blinds,

And allowed an audience,

To judge me with imaginative defiance.

Attacking words that aren’t there,

Throwing daggers without care,

And the depression is kicking in,

Yet again.

Drowning myself in champagne,

Just to feel some semblance of shame.

I may seem like a mastermind,

But I’m just trying to survive.

Snow marked the grave,

Holding out hope to be saved,

Ivy on the walls,

Nothing is shocking about the fall,

Of my glass coffin from the wall,

My monsters carry me now,

Slipping on the ice covered ground,

Down the weathered well,

My final farewell.

Author's Note

The photo I choose for this poem is of Lernaean Hydra, which is a monster in greek mythology. If you cut a head off of this monster, two grow back in it's place. I felt this was an apt metaphor for my own mental health struggles. I hope you enjoy this piece :)
