I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry

A Poem by Trevor

I'm sorry.
I'm sorry that I always looked a little above your eyes when I talked to you,
And moved my thumb too much when we held hands;
That we talked about scissors and construction paper,
But I didn't ask you to call me Daniel.
I'm sorry that I let you think I told you I loved you,
And that I never kissed you with my eyes open;
That I named you Butterfly,
But didn't check to see if you were a moth.
I'm sorry I scribbled sentence fragments onto your heart that left scars,
And wrote a novel on the wall with chalk;
That I've written dozens of love poems,
But this is the first time I've written about you.
I'm sorry.

Enjoyed this write. It talked to me.

Actually, it's quite touching as it is. If you do add more the 4th and 5th verses really need to stay at the end.
