Dragon Inside You

a poem on not giving up

Hey dear friend
I know that life is hard
Families break apart so sudden
No longer like it used to function
All your trusted friends walk away
Wondering what was the point to stay
That special person breaks up with you
Falling deep into the sad blue
You get fired from your job
And you sit drinking at the rooftop
You get sick out of nowhere
It knocks away your flair
Can’t even win in your favorite game
Beginning to question what you became

When you are left standing alone
Do not fall to your two knees
Do not head into the dark zone
Focus and steadily increase
For your life must carry on
Eyes forward and erase each loss
From each morning to dawn
You must show who is boss
You will show everyone who has grew
As you let out that dragon inside you

Life’s unfair as it shatters each peace card
I know all kinds of problems extend
I know you just lay in bed thinking
Wondering why things keep sinking
But get up and remove the concealed
Your true power has yet to be revealed

Vow to be courageous and never sway
It’s like the Chinese say
Where there is a will there is a way
Pledge to your heart each day
For it will slowly begin to heal
With the strength of hard steel
For you are strong and real
Problems won’t break you like they knew
As you let out the dragon inside you
