Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by Faith Kinnison

Goodbye

How can I begin to tell you?

How can I think you already know?

Are you really looking at me?

Do you want me to know?

It seems like you wanted to get caught

Like you knew that I would be there that night

How could you take her in our room?

What was going on in your head?

What was going on in our bed?

I wish you had just told me

That I was not enough for you.

I wish you had just held me

Until I was enough.

Maybe then we wouldn’t be over.

Maybe I wouldn’t be saying goodbye.

What good is wishing anyway?

Things are what they are.

You can’t change,

I shouldn’t expect you too.

I love you,

I’ll get over you.
