Despair

Despair

A Poem by Faith Kinnison

Despair

Despair is knowing

your dreams will never come true

The moment you wake up and realize

you’ll never do what you wanted to

It never goes away

and it never gets better

Despair is the feeling of uselessness

sheer abandonment

You wish that you could sleep forever

The knowledge that you’ll never be good enough

and no one cares enough

The hurt never subsides

the fear is always there

Everyone leaves soon enough

so you push them away a little faster

All the while, you pray they’ll stay

but they never do
