Those Days

Those Days

A Poem by FarewellToTheSea
"

Just a brief attempt to capture the melancholy essence of adolescence.

"
We all had those days when
We would wonder how to keep moving on.
Only, some of us, deep within,
Never could find that fabled triumphant song.

We would put on our cracking plastered smiles-a false front-
To make ourselves appear strong.
But still, no one can manage to bear the brunt
Of a world where nobody seems to belong.

And so, we turned to unorthodox crimes
Against the humanity within ourselves.
We would loathe our bodies; we would run out of time.
We would turn to the bottles, the bongs, the knives on the shelves.

And eventually, when we could no longer stand it-
When we finally couldn't bear to live with our bitter sanity-
We would find where we truly fit
In the rank's of the mortician's vanity.
