WATER

WATER

A Poem by fargone

WATERby phil roberts
As sinuous as sexuality
Flowing fresh and twisting
The stream gathers speed
Polishing and chattering
Over pebbles and smoothed stones
Busy and multitudinous
Rushing and splashing heedlessly on
Into and out of shallow basins
On it's gathering gravitous progress
Inexorably towards the sea
The formless community of it's kind
Riding on currents and winds
Soon to mist and cloud the sky again
And rain falls down and down
To feed the numberless tributaries
As the constant circle rolls on
Giving life to the geographically fortunate
And neglecting he needy starving
Where the water no longer falls
And the god-fixed cannot tell me why
Some must live and some must die
