Covered

Covered

A Poem by CA Geetha
"

aah.... those were the days....

"
All was quite
As it struck 12
Did the bells start to ring
The moon waned
As the trees parted to let him through.
There at the end of the forest was an opening
He walked through and through.
The moon light was shining in that open area.
He walked with an army of men.
The men looked pained as they walked with their master.
The light moved.
He realized that it wasn’t the moon light he saw.
The light moved faster and he followed
He walked faster when
A figure came out.
It was covered from head to toe
Its hood covered everything from its face, except its eyes
Those eyes held his for so long because they were so beautiful.
He started forward
The figure held a hand out and motioned to stop.
But those eyes were so exquisite
That his eyes would not move.
When the figure spoke the air went still.
She spoke with a façade
That pleased him to see.
She said “you look at my eyes and fall for them; you are wronged and will not be happy with them”.
“you are the love of my life, the air of my soul, the--“ he was cut off as she turned and around and ran.
As she ran, he ran behind her.
The army walked at pace leaving their master to race.
She was gone once and for all he thought.
But as he ran and ran he pushed through the trees.
She was standing in the middle of a clearing.
Her hood was down, her hair billowing behind her.
The most beautiful women ever.
He stood staring at her
Without looking away.
She moved forward and he advanced as well.
“ please let me hold you and make you feel whole” he said
“you don’t know the biggest flaw in my life, if you did you would not look at me twice” she told him.
He could hardly think she was so beautiful.
He walked near and took her hands in his and pilled her close.
His eyes searched her face but didn’t find anything that was untrue.
He started to dance with her...
He looked closely into her eyes and found no emotion there.
He almost dropped her finding her flaw.
She was blind to the world.
He stood her up and held her in his arms as she said quietly “I knew what you would do”
She started to move to walk away,
But his hold on her was too tight
For her to even move.
He looked in her eyes and whispered in her ear;
“I love you”
She stood still and shocked
For those words she never heard before.
He bent her down and kissed her nose.
Tears filled her eyes, the army started to move back into the trees.
As he kissed her full on the lips and made her feel whole.
They stood in that alley few hours later on.
Remembering everything they just shared.
She pulled her hood on so that she was covered again,
He started to push it back so he could see her again.
“ Give me some dignity and let it rest, we’ve given each other eternity, may our lives be fulfilled.
He held her and promised her true love and as they walked home
Life was jubilant again

A beautiful poem. I like the above ending a lot. Dignity and respect. Key to a long time relationship. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome.
It's beautiful! Conveys so many things, like you've intricately woven several wise metaphors into the lines. It touches the heart. Great piece. So wonderfully crafted. Thank you :)
