Last night an angel spoke to me

written for someone who liked angels

Last night an angel spoke to me,
as I slumbered in my bed.
He spread his wings and a light shone bright,
'I've come to help you' he said.
My body shook with fever,
at the wonder of this sight.
'Open your eyes' the angel said,
'and look into my light'.
I looked into the brightness,
that shone beneath his wing.
Such wonderous beauty before me,
the angel began to sing.
His words swam round my body,
and floated into my ears.
Wrapped themselves around me,
and wiped away my tears.
A feeling of love almighty,
nestled in my soul.
Gazing into the angels light,
my mind suddenly felt whole.
I saw before me all my fears,
struggles, betrayals and kind.
But with the angel's tune around me,
no worries played on my mind.
I saw all my friends and loved ones,
standing in a line.
Paying tribute to a body,
A corpse I knew was mine.
So many tears were flowing,
so many sighs of regret.
Why oh why they were crying,
did she have to be taken yet?
I saw my coffin be burried,
surrounded by all that I knew.
saying how much they missed me,
and I felt like I missed them too.
Then the angel closed his wings,
and darkness covered my eyes.
'I think you've seen all you need'
then left without a goodbye.
Last night an angel spoke to me,
right at my darkest time.
Restored faith in all I didn't know I had,
Made me glad you all walk at my side.
