my beloved, why must things be so complicated

my beloved, why must things be so complicated

A Poem by Everett Dulin
"

I wrote this on my phone sitting in front of her.

"
it seems I feel,
something purposefully lost.
but throughout, in love,
i wasn’t what i thought.

in times like these
end isn’t a declaration,
but a subtle affair.
beyond any convention.

you see the same,
you said so yourself.
twisted couplets,
to promise our despair.

i want to see you again,
though i know i don’t.
we have lies to live.
we’re still beyond friends.
