the hermit's resolve

the hermit's resolve

A Poem by Everett Dulin

to new beginnings, and their bitter ends
we set sail to tomorrow
as we try to sail away, from unwashed sins.
the waters unforgiving,

we'll never swim.

my ship sails foward,
theseus would be proud.
the bridge creaks,
but through sorrow we plow.

until tomorrow,
so we can mourn today then.
the ocean devours.
steadfast,

we know it doesn't end.

from dock to bay,
bay to the edge.
always searching for dawn,
unknowing of when.

the stars guiding,
my captain a frail man.
longing for daybreak.
he'll pass,

before the spoon hits the tin.

its a sailors delight,
as much as he loves the sea.
theseus's coffin, is not the place to be.
for when tomorrow comes and we're dust and bone.

not a name will remember, the stories we've told.
