a ghoul's prayer

a ghoul's prayer

A Poem by Everett Dulin
"

"All losses in this world are due to a lack of ability."

"
in delirium
screams turn into
hushed whispers
and the reaper wakes

im a passive observer
never a man of action
but death clicks closer
did i deserve this end?

cityscapes watch
with blind indifference
their concrete arms
nurturing, holding, my deathbed

under flickering sodium
my body is split open
and a pool of innocence
seeps around my closing

alleyways and streetlights
reflect dim endings
with windows barred
along with my restless soul

purgatory is calling
whispering my name
"sweet soft delirium"
im sorry.

This poem has a real atmosphere. It's dark and I felt like I was walking down a street with a broken street light that would smell like gunpowder. You need to show some mercy to your readers' hearts, my friend. You write better poems every day and I feel like I am diving into the void with anxiety under the influence of your poems.
