Lessons Learned/Patience

Lessons Learned/Patience

A Poem by CC

If I had let him

He would have kept me

Pulled me close to his chest

Done his very best

To make me happy, fill me up

Be the man I wanted him to be

He could have devoted his life

To love me

Yet

All the pieces weren’t quite

Where I expected them to be

He still wasn’t quite the man

I thought I’d see

So although a piece of my heart

Had already been taken from me

I had to set myself free

Knowing

Under the lovely, gentle flutter of his earnest kisses

There is someplace else

I’m due to be.
