Worse Than Mercy

Spinning in your sundress in the summer heat
With him by your side instead of mine.
You’re such a child, flashing that gem
Acting so bombastic and brilliant

I’m invincible when you roll your eyes and laugh.
I’m in the corner plotting your demise
I didn’t know you were such a diamond stealer,
You love to stir the pot and ruin days

You’re such a good actress, but I know when you lie.
Like a tree that stands high and mighty over the rest,
But all roots and branches have their breaking points
Avalanches running over them, so insignificant

At that party you laughed and stared into your drink,
Waiting to sweep him off his feet
Staring over your shoulder as you pulled him away
Leaving me breathless and lonely in my gold dress

They all watched in silence as I suffered
By the hand of someone who doesn’t deserve him
And in that moment my blood reached its boiling point,
Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did.
