RAGAMUFFIN GIRL.

RAGAMUFFIN GIRL.

A Poem by Kitty
"

This is the first poem that I wrote and shared with anyone. This writing is very personal to me. I wrote this story as a summary of MY spiritual journey. I explored many different religions, and found that the only one and true way is Jesus

"

She worshiped all the ancient gods.
Diana
Aphrodite
Pan
Kali
She danced under the moon with many.
She felt empowered externally, though internally her light was quickly fading.

At night when no one was around she cried out, yet she knew not why.
Just a sad girl when left alone.
When the sun arose, so did the young maiden within her.
Calling the four corners, celebrating the winter solstice.
Lighting some incense, casting a spell.
Reading her tarot cards with her spirit guide always by her side.
Always with stones on her fingers for power, "A rose quartz to keep love close
"A tigers eye for her Chakra's to be in line
Never forgetting the Wiccan Rede:

"Bide ye the Wiccan laws ye must, in perfect love and perfect trust. Ye must live and let live, fairly take and fairly give. Cast the circle thrice about, to keep unwelcome spirits out.

Little did she know..
She opened doors.
Exposed her soul.
The darkness becoming darker within.

Sadness
Drugs
sex
spells
chants

And the emptiness..

As time went by she drowned herself with drink and anything in the form of a pill.
At times, she spent the whole day in bed.
At others, she danced till dawn.
Some nights she'd lock herself in her bathroom late at night, her face buried in a towel to muffle her crys, her anguish.
Pleading for peace, rest, for the pain to stop.
Pleading to who?
A flashback: "I was eight when I walked to that altar, on my knees in a little church in Mexico, I met Jesus, and I gave my life to Him.

Where are you now Jesus?

I want this pain to stop.
Death....
yes...
Should I cut myself?
Take all the pills?
I don't want to feel.

- I was just a mistake.
-The world would be better off without me.
yes.......

But, then what?
What’s after all this?

A voice: COME TO ME ALL WHO ARE HEAVY BURDENED AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST.

- Jesus meant that for someone else....
- that was so long ago...

A voice: FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON JESUS, SO THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM , SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

Curled up on the cold bathroom floor, tears in her eyes.

She whispers:
 Jesus help me please....
I cant do this anymore, I believe in you.
I am tired, I want out of this mess. Jesus...

Silence.... Peace...sleep.

She walks into church.
Determined this time to find this God.
Not power.
Not popularity.
Not control of any spirits.
Not sexual prowess from her Goddess Aphrodite.

She walks in as she is, burnt-out, bedraggled and beat up.
What is this atmosphere?
What is this stirring within?
A peace within, a thirst within.
-why is everyone SO happy? so full of joy?

The preacher says,

"It is no coincidence you are here today!
God had lead you into this place. Won't you come to him?
He will fill you with all you need, Just come and put it all at his feet.
He will cleanse you.
Make all things new....
HE IS THE TRUTH!
HE IS THE WAY AND THE LIFE!
It doesn't matter where you have been or what you have done, He loves you!..........

The voice: He died for you ragamuffin girl.
For you.

The nails on his hand and feet for you.
He died for you.
He chose to die for you.

-He loves me?
but, I’ve done many bad things.

The voice: While you were still a sinner he died for you...

oh this is profound writing. I get such a lift when I read it. To be filled from within - that is what we all desire at our core - and we search so many different ways to fill ourselves up....always empty until we find the ONE. I love this one.

Beautiful progression from the lost to the saved. Well written. If you get a chance, check out my poem "Martyr: Carrying the Cross". I think you might find it touching. Kudos on this.
