Hate Me

Hate Me

A Poem by Xye Nelson

You are allowed to hate me.
To pull me through the streets
To burn me at the stake
Hang my soiled body from your proud American flag
As a sign of success
That I have been beat.
You have my permission
To slit my throat
And boil my filthy blood
But I will not apologize.
I will not sit before your pious throne and beg for forgiveness.
Because your throne
Is no more then a kitchen chair
Stained with the lives you have destroyed
And because despite your claims
you are just another useless man
A useless air vacuum
Taking up more
Than your fair share of space.

I like the structure of the poem. The opening is very powerful and grabs the reader's attention. I like the bitterness and the attitude. The criticism in your poem is brimming with emotion, making the words have a strong effect.
