ON THE DOOR STEP

ON THE DOOR STEP

A Poem by FlawedByDesign
"

Quest for salvation ends in denial, but don't fell bad, I'm already dead.

"

ON THE DOORSTEP

So it has come to this,
The time for my last wish.

Pale Jesus around my neck,
I disembody from this wreck.

Floating in the free and the clear,
My deliverance draws near.

I await guidance from above,
To become a crusader thereof.

But angels can’t stop to cry,
Bereaved, they refuse to fly.

I’m left to drift the purgatory,
A pessimistic twist to my story.

My quest for salvation must end,
Don’t feel bad; I’m already dead.

I'm not religious in any way but this is a good poem for what it is. I like the imagery of it. The flow and rhythm feel too strict to me, so much that they restrict how much emotion can be expressed but that sort of fits this type of poem in my opinion. How the soul is trapped and in purgatory, unable to be free in a desired dimension. I like the ending line, blunt yet sorrowful.
