A Rose's Thorn

A Rose's Thorn

A Poem by Auburn
"

looking back through some old poetry and came across this. kinda liked it. (:( hah

"

Lets not pretend

Like we don't know

It will crash and burn and end

I started a fire

That burnt down the city

But remember he gave me the matches

He built her a castle of ashes

And told her he'd be her prince

But that was before she knew who he was

And gave up her crown to be his

Back

Back

Back to the times when she put flowers on her face

Back

Back

Back to the times when she covered their lies with lace

Oh, what a glorious thing it is

The trees against the sky

And now she sits and pretends to cry

Under the trees, under his knees

Under the petals

Of hundreds of roses

With hundreds of thorns and lies

What beautiful thing love is

She once thought

And he told her love was true

True as the sun and the moon

True as me and you

What a glorious thing to be alone

And sit still quietly

And by that to be content

Agreed politely

Far

Far

Far from this town

there may be a prince

Far

Far

Far from these trees

He waits, looming in the woods

Dark circles under his eyes

From lack of sleep

And lack of light

Far

Far

Far from her he waits like a hawk waits for his prey
