Dutton — Then and Now

Dutton — Then and Now

A Poem by flightedbird

five-sixteen-thirteen
heading on two for sleepless nights
stark white walls and psychotic tasered stares
purple rose adorns her hair

asked to smile/did that go in my file?
a team awaits/i meet them all
remember no one but the fiery one with green eyes and a wicked smile

shadowed and afraid
shy and meek
a friendly face breaks in

beacons guiding/i smile wary
new faces like cannibals roar

i climb and i rise
i fall and i cry
make it to the top once more

the brightness is dimming
what is coming?
the walls are starting to decay

the freesias are gone
the smell is all wrong
acid rains from the sky

friends have changed
minds deranged
the screaming has yet to stop

the flesh flies
our blood cries
nails driven through the skull

what's wrong with us?
we've lost our touch
for being human beings

i hate us all
but i hear the call
that it will eventually
be okay
