If the tables were turned..

If the tables were turned..

A Poem by allura

If it were you out here instead of me
Oh what a different story that would be!

I'd be fucked, and you'd be fine.
Carrying on, leaving me behind.

You'd let me rot
without a thought.

So why do I still care?

Here I am, by your side.
When everyone else has moved on, as if you died.

Here I am, and here I'll be.
twenty five to life or the death penalty.

I love you girl, I always have.
Unrequited, and slightly sad.

We could have been great together
But you wouldn't give us a chance.

Oh well,
Whatever!

It doesn't matter anymore
You're locked away behind iron doors.

Most likely, you're never going to leave.
But I'll be here waiting,
you better believe!

Great work, I can almost feel the bitterness as a physical force, well done

I'm familiar with this emotion, working with inmates. This is so real, it sounds like you first wrote it to relieve yourself before it became poetry.
Thanks

Love how this was written. Bitterness, indeed.

You did...You are welcome...:)
Cleverly written and a distinctively unique message in regards to role reversals. It's funny how love will make a person bend over backwards for their significant other. Nice work. :)

Good one allura, the rhyme scheme was superb and the concept was great. I like this couplet "I love you girl, I always have.
Unrequited, and slightly sad." Excellently done.
