Untitled II

Untitled II

A Poem by iliketowrite

Just like the moon on a warm summer night,

You left.

You left like a passing cloud over the clear sky,

Or like a lonely red rose in the dead of winter.

You left,

Yet your promises are still here, intact.

The last one, promise of redemption,

Hangs in the still air,

Paused, like an autumnal leaf,

Floating in the mid-October air.

You were lost in the twilight,

I watched the sun set from my open window.

I remember your love,

It burned

Like a scorching coin in my clenched fist.

I watched the sunset from my open window,

And I remembered you with soul clenched,

Still in that sadness of my heart,

The sadness of my heart that you do not know.
