Bobby Brown and Me

Bobby Brown and Me

A Poem by Whiles

I told him I loved him
and promised
if I was ever single...
We shook on it and that was that

in his car
 drunk on kansas
we kissed
and both of us knew
what it meant
and I've never needed
another man.

just because it's cryptic and sparse,
(our vulnerable words)
and because we're cryptic and sparse
we make marsh-lights in the summer
with chemistry and caro syrup
 and wait for the day
when the gods will

catch up.
