Victim

Victim

A Poem by Emily
"

Written early this year again.

"

It is you who sees me unfold; the slip of the skin that
holds the features so tightly together,
in an attempt at normality.

It is you who sees me tense, then unravel like a dead doll;
as I slip into the cruelty of my mind,
you attempt to save me.

It is you who hears the harshness of my words,
the repressed thoughts spilling over
and the fire is burnt deep into your flesh.

It is you who clasps me tightly when I break:
the child who never grew, the baby trapped
in a cage of flesh that revolts.

And finally my mask falls and the terribleness
of humanity is revealed, as I release my bitterness on one
so kind and loving (I do not forgive love.)

wow this was a powerful write. Definitely challenged my mind as I read it. The descriptions were bold and dark (which is a good thing in this piece). Such a great job!
