i'm not a poet

i'm not a poet

A Poem by fresh strawberries

I'm not a poet
I just let my feelings flow
and they come out like this.

I don't like labels
because I never feel I'm able
to fit myself into it

categories bore me
exceptions are all I see
until it feels only arbitrary

we're all just people
and everyone is different
why can't we just accept that

200,000 years of generations
through evolution and adaptation
we're all still blind to simple truths

no need to tell me I'm just a kid
don't even f*****g mention it
why can I see it, and not you?

well I started with a rhyme scheme
but it's been shed quite quickly
the truth just doesn't sound that pretty

I like to think I'm witty
but just speak to me and you'll see
I'm just like you, slow moving and empty

the only thing that makes me different
is the desire for something more
I don't really know that much, you see

my time is approaching fast
I just really hope things last
everything reminds me of all that may not be

and that's my biggest fear
aiming so high and not coming near
my goals are big, but still I'll feel like s**t if I miss

I just get so pissed for no real reason
I'm distracted and selfish and arrogant
I'm not sure what you see in me, but it's something

my stanza get longer as we move on
every line I think of is far too long
this isn't a poem, it's me now

I'm not a poet.
