They

They

A Poem by Tara-Rist

I still can't wrap my mind around this thing called life
where torn is the era where we gain nothing but strife
lessons to learn and all these equals to contact and meet
and still we find little moments to cause us more grief
when trying so hard just ends up with one more closed door
and learning to care and respect is another overlooked chore
I'm gaining so much knowledge and what will move
and how far or how short people's words walk to prove
scared I sit back, obeserve situations and some lives
until I'm disgusted with surely all of earth's man kind
what will you gather or give or take back in your days
other than tears or hate instead of finding a higher way
working so hard to make a difference where "they" fit
my life is on track but all I can do is watch and sit
wrong roads and bad choiced and millions of harsh words
I just step back and laugh at how life is so absurd
abused seconds in time where hugs and speach are replaced
I feel so confined, all alone, in this mind altering space
what could I do to reach out and touch aching hearts
when I'm letting their lives tear my own all apart
I'm numb once again in lost faith that they'll see
what I found in a pit, in the core, this light in me
another lesson I assum on my dusty rock path
seconds in time I ponder to how long they will last
