Emotional Warfare

Emotional Warfare

A Poem by Tara-Rist

they held her in their palm as if to wave goodbye
and tried and tried their ill and damndest
to throw her back into the blue sky
with teases and taunts of miracles that bloom
they only left traces of mud and tracks
and the sad fate that laid before her in doom

she flew threw the air with such freedom and grace
and she breathed once deeply so fierce
but soon she reached land once again face to face
where they again swooped up and beat her being
her mind tattered with body and heart and soul
for not believing what levels she was seeing

she fled far from home and all that she had in devotion
leaving possession and infatuations and pride
and forgetting all blessed and learned emotions
what she pocessed in a soul embodied in life
she took down a street and never her head turned
she gave up on love lusted and brilliance of strife

laughing and mocking they used daggers to cut up her skin
and threw lies and addresses in forms of commands
one time she even gave in to forceful pretend
where her feelings with words she swallowed down throat
she lifted her finger to please all the souls
alone at night her memories and thoughts would soak

on her walk one day on this long drawn dusty path
she raised up her head at the end of early dawn
and let the sun's rays blanket her in a warm bath
she spoke to her soul and beckoned it back into home
and mended her heart by way of roadside
with that she comforted her mind from being all alone

when she picked up her body from sitting so long
she had dropped weight from her shoulders
but never would the feelings and memories ever be gone
she was better and lonely amongst many things
yet she let the sum of the wounds merely digress
the remembered hot tears and the meaningful stings

down the road and her path she had decided
she finally began to trot onward toward
more dreadful things she'd herself left unconfided
meanings and mornings where she wished she could wake
next to some person with genorous will
that would make her own inner being shake

where shattered moments in life would have been less
for there were things she didn't enjoying remembering
like they were from some horrific book with and endless test
she wanted to face somewhat of a future sometime
but with more tools than she had heart to shout
or give meaning to in a effortless scheme of rhyme

she became smarter after time and could see through lies
and made certain they wouldn't laugh anymore
or give way to her time or love through rendered disquise
sometimes her thoughts went to her body eating away
other mornings she awoke in deep thought and kindness
that it melted the most dangerous thoughts in decay

this girl continued to live somewhat in her own darkness
afraid of what she would end up next saying
keeping things locked tight in the boxes in her chest
hoping the light would merely get her through to the end
and leaving back the other hoped that spawned
into the light her footsteps finally began to decend

what's to say of her the future only keeps held
the prizes and prices she must pay
and carpets of magic and some hands that are dealt
but she'll always have love enough for you
where she knows some pains and some sorrows
that would only be old maybe new, to you, news
