Early Morning

Early Morning

A Poem by Monica Garcia
"

mistakes of childhood...

"

12:58 am “Dear God, what’s taking them so long”

1:06 am Black charcoal forced down dry throat

                2:37 am Bed pan

3:00 am Cold needle stabbing into warm flesh

3:26 am Black charcoal creeps up dry throat

                4:12 am Nurses whisper

                5:14 am “F*****g bed pan”

                6:09 am Mother sobbing

11:54 am Regrets of trying to overdose at midnight

Oh this was great. I first of all, loved the way that you wrote it, how you put the times in there, that was great, and unique, becuase I haven't read something like that before, it was refreshing. I also liked that you opened up and showed a piece of yourself to the world. That sense of vulnerability actually has some bravery in it to me because it takes a lot of courage to be able to face the things that you have done in the past and fess up to them. There are plenty of things in the past that I have done that it has taken me a long time to fess up to them and finally accept that I had done them. Thank you for sharing. This was a beautiful poem.
