Fear

Fear

A Poem by Gavin Keary
"

When you feel that tingle on the back of your neck, or you hear footsteps other than your own, you are in the grip of fear.

"

The dark hides

all that you fear.

Death takes a hold

on your imagination

and lets it run wild.

That hand on your shoulder

isnt real, you say.

Your nightmares take breath

and dance around you.

When you scream,

they enter you,

posess you,

and try to break you.

The cold is not the weather,

but your fear consuming the last light in you.

Don't close your eyes,

but don't keep them open.

An intriguing piece. I especially like the juxtaposition of the last two lines. There is incredible angst in your work.

Love it =]
I feel like this every night when I walk through my house by myself and no one else is there.
Brilliant

This is great!! I wrote something similar titled The Beast. I'll send it to you, I think you'll like it.

I love your writing style...somewhat of a free flow, yet not. :) This is such a vivid and intense description of fear and how it takes hold, sometimes seemingly impossible to escape. "don't close your eyes, but don't keep them open" Love it!

Excellent!

WOW (oops, forgot to take off the caps lock XD)

Um...I'm not good at writing reviews. LOL just know that I'm not just saying I think it's good because I'm a friend. If I don't really like something a friend has written, I don't give an opinion. If I've read it, that is. XD
