Twilight

Twilight

A Poem by Georgia Stone

Twilight;
When the world comes alive
Though it looks like it's going to sleep;
When sunlight fades,
Replaced by soft streetlights
That reveal things kept secret by day.

Shadows
Cast by the gentle, warm glow
Tell a second story,
Portray a second reality:
A whole new world merged with our own.
The song of crickets
Fills the place of the birdsong's silence
And the warm night breeze whispers
A truth.

Though the sky's going dark
Fields of vision expand
Light-years away to the stars:
Clarity.
Then the last light goes dim
And the world waits with patience
For each darkness is followed by dawn.
