Beam me up into Space

Beam me up into Space

A Poem by Gerry Legister
"

One day my soul will be caught between the galaxies staring back at earth

"

Beam me up in a hurry
warp speed into a vast new world;
there I will not see a stress society,
looking the way we do for gold.

Go into space and spot places
that are only seen by telescope,
you can run and enter races,
there is unlimited scope.

I may see the Milky Way drift into fantasy
and find adventures chasing moonbeams,
and different creatures staring back at me,
waiting to unite the sparkle in my dreams.

In galaxies, the winds are at ease
to banish the gravity of night and day,
there is no sign of disease
but you can call Mr. Scott if you go astray.

Send into orbit to investigate
pieces of old rocks and dust,
if you want to shake it off your feet.
And make memorabilia hard as the crust.

Astronauts go bravely into space
where destiny leaves the door open.
They bring back from distance
traces to make our lives more forgiven.
