I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry

A Poem by Gharam Al Sendi

I took a walk today,

And thought about you.

I hadn’t thought about you in a long time.

I forgot what it felt like to have you on my mind.

Because on days when all I thought about was you,

You thought about her.

And on nights when I was glowing with lust,

You were busy satisfying your desires with someone else’s lips.

She probably made your heart beat faster than I could.

And she’s probably a lot more fun than I am.

So this is my apology;

I guess.

I’m sorry that you couldn’t fall inlove with who I am;

Or was, for that matter.

I am no longer the same girl I was 3 years ago.

I know that

You fell inlove with whispered words at 2:38 AM,

Late night phone calls,

Goodmorning texts,

Holding hands,

The warmth of another body against yours,

But you did not fall inlove

With me.
