Same Place, Same Things

Same Place, Same Things

A Poem by ghaw2007

Same Place, Same Things

Verse 1

Waiting at a bus stop

Eating a fortune cookie

Smoking a cigarette

Reading a newspaper

Just a stranger among strangers

Looking at my watch as the bus arrives

sitting at the back as usual

If not at the sides, then in the middle

Glancing around, sometimes staring; which is rare

Waiting patiently as I get closer to my destination

Verse 2

Thinking about what happened yesterday

Recalling last week's events

Sometimes talking to myself

Looking to see if anyone noticed me

If they did, I just turn my head away

Assuring myself I'm as normal as anyone can be

Bridge

Travelling along the same route

Opening the same doors

Eating the same food day after day

Drinking the same beverages

Having the same songs being stuck in my mind

Basically following the same schedule without interruption

Seeing and avoiding the same people

Wondering if anything will change

Chorus

Same place, same things

Same location, same stuff
