Underneath I'm Different

Underneath I'm Different

A Poem by ghaw2007

Underneath I'm Different

Verse 1

My eyes are windows to my hidden soul

They are like two doorways to my mind

I look into the unknown

Then I discover information that I could not find

I'm different from many people

Occasionally I feel like I don't belong

Nobody knows who I truly am

On the outside, I'm plain and simple

Verse 2

Love is meant to be felt

From the heart so deep and true

I don't give myself enough of it

My self-esteem takes a hit

If stars are meant to be wished upon

I could make my dreams come true

I'd stay up every night

Search for ones that are bright

Hopefully I'll find my guiding light

Bridge

I would be like a kite and go on a flight

Forgetting about my strife is always nice

But I must live in the present

Try my best not to stand out

It's not going to be easy

I'm aware of that

But how am I suppose to live my life?

I always have to be cautious of who I am

I must be strong, I must be brave

That is key to my survival

Chorus

Underneath I'm different

I finally realized it

But I don't want to be this way

Changing who I am may be impossible

But that won't stop me from trying to be the same as others
