There's a side of silence that people don't know exist

It is the side that is so quiet

It can be heard at any time

It sounds like a powerful, raging storm

Destroying almost everything in it's path

It gets to the point where you can't hear breathing

The loudness of it drowns out voices

The other side of silence is filled with noise

It can make eardrums ache

The screams are sharp and long

It can last until a word is uttered

Then the chain of silence will be broken

But sooner of later it will reconnect

And when it does, it strikes with a tremendous force

It will blast you away if you're caught off guard

When you experience both sides of silence

You view verbal communication in a different way

Without it, noise levels increase precipitously

You'll say anything just to make it quiet again

Some of the damage that occurred can be felt

It's when you speak and can't hear yourself
