If I Can't Do It

Verse 1

If I can't do it

Will you offer to lend me a hand?

If I cannot speak my name

Will you represent me?

If I have no place to go

Will you invite me into your home?

If I'm distraught and lonely

Will you hesitate to comfort me?

Verse 2

If I forget something

Will you remind me of it?

If I am afraid

Will you reassure me that things are fine?

If I cannot think clearly

will you assist me to get by?

This world can be a dark, cold place

Especially when you are on your own

Verse 3

If my heart is broken

Will you attempt to mend it?

If I demand to know the truth

Will you always tell me?

If I can no longer see

Will you guide me along?

If I'm feeling worthless and ugly

Will you prove me wrong?

Chorus

I want to trust you

I want to confide in you

But I don't know if I should

I want to believe in you

But I don't want to be let down
