In Pieces

In Pieces

A Poem by ghaw2007

In Pieces

Verse 1

I gave you my heart to hold

Not to have

You treated me as if I was your possession

To you I was your puppet

You pulled my strings

You made me do things

I thought I could never do

I feel so ashamed

Verse 2

I gave myself to you with one condition

That you promised to love me, to care for me

You vowed to do just that

Then suddenly you went back on your word

I should have known

That you were as reliable as a snake

Bridge

I believed everything you told me

I was so gullible

I let you into my life

I was so irresponsible

I loved you, I truly did

I was so desperate

To feel like I mattered to somebody else

Chorus 1

I'm in pieces

A thousand different ones scattered before me

I'm trying to put myself back together

But it's not an easy task

Chorus 2

I'm in pieces

A thousand different ones scattered before you

I'm trying to put myself back together

But it's not an easy task

Chorus 3

I'm in pieces

A thousand different ones scattered inside me

I'm trying to put myself back together

But it's not an easy task

It's always sad when love is one-sided.
