Sometimes people do not value that which you give freely. This is a poem about that.

  Nothing for Free 

    

You asked for my heart

I gave it freely

But things that are free

Have no value to you

 

I took back my heart

 made you work to attain it

let you see its worth

made you care to maintain it

 

Now you beg and plead

for just a little of me

There’s no love for you

that lives in me

 

You never gave your heart

I was never the one

worthy of your love

So now you have none

 

You offer it now

It’s worth nothing to me

A sad little heart

you give away for free

Loved that bit, and the whole thing. It seems like every love, every relations ship we go through we give a part of ourselves away until sometimes it feels like theres nothing left. Great bit of writing!
