You won't see me

You won't see me

A Poem by gibletish

This time next year you won't recognize me
Although you never really did

I wore a mask to keep you happy
Even as it grew heavier everyday

I don't want to be brave
I just want to feel safe

I don't want to stand out
I just want to belong

I don't want to change
I just want to stop pretending

I don't want to disappoint you
I just want to be myself

You will be sad that you don't recognize your son anymore
I will always be sad that you won't recognize your daughter
