Familiar Eyes

Familiar Eyes

A Poem by gibletish

Another pair of eyes closed for the final time today
Eyes that never met mine and yet
I know they would have looked familiar
That look of someone yearning to be free
Free of the hate coming from every direction
How many more eyes will close like hers?
How many more tears will we have to shed?
How long until people look into our eyes
And see something worth loving?
