Grown up

Grown up

A Poem by Lydia Waldock
"

who are you to raise us

"
Short days ago we were the children with brightly shining smiles and glowing eyes
Many years ago we the gift to the new world
Told to have amazing futures and that if you can dream it you can do it.
Funny how quick that changed once we saw the world for what it was
How quick the mentality that we the kids could change the world now we are ruining it
Just finding new ways to be destructive to ourselves
Blamed and pressured
“We asked you to change the world the way we wanted it not the way you are doing it.
We didn’t ask you to fight for your life we didn’t have to do that”
Speak the elders with all the power still
Thinking they can control the children they did not grow themselves
Raising your children to learn to hate themselves and stay in the dark
When we learned to love ourselves, we grew up our own, we are fighting for what changes need to happen. Because as you said
The younger generation will change the future
And it’s your fault if you don’t like those changes and blame us for ruining the world.
Shot dead are your words with too many body laying around.
