Today

A Poem by aBillings
"

Today the cold reached out... and wrapped me up.

"

Today the cold reached out and wrapped me up

I felt the chill seep into my bones, and in my gut

I knew that something was going to go wrong.

Tonight I didn’t say goodnight or I love you

But in my defense, neither did you

and now I’m listening to tear-in-my-beer songs.

Tomorrow the fog will cover my unwilling eyes

and write me a sonnet for a lovely disguise,

and send me away to a land where I don't belong.

This is one of those poems that kind of comes to mind and you jot it down while you're at work and supposed to be keeping numbers lined up, so it's not terribly structured or well-arranged.
