Saint John's Dance

Saint John's Dance

A Poem by Miss Sally Sunshine

A writhing mass of bodies

Rubbing up against one another

No air to breath

A girl moves her hips

A boy latches on like a leech

She dances on him, indifferent

The music pulses

Invading your head

Making your blood race

The dark is your identity

Countless boys,

Your rapt audience

Teahcers look on with distaste

They shake their heads

It was so different before

The smell and touch of sweat

Recoiling doesnt help

They just press in closer

There's no escape

No retreat

No sweet air

Only people

Only dancers

Only darkness
