Shooting Stars

Shooting Stars

A Poem by Rachi Boo
"

Just about what I feel when looking at the stars at night.

"
I'm alone in the night,
Laying in the grass,
Surrounded by nature.

Admiring the beauty of the night,
And seeing the sky illuminated by the full moon,
I hear crickets chirping,
And I look up to see the stars,
I start counting...
1, 2, 3 , 4.... 15, 16, 17, 18.... 34, 35, 36
Soon, I lose count,
And drift off into my mind.

I was only a kid, 8 years at least, asleep in bed,
My father awakens me with eyes of excitement,
We run down the steps to find in the sky, shooting stars.
My eyes fill with wonderment,
And I'm awe-struck by the sight.
But soon it's over,
And I drag myself to bed, in disappointment.

Could imagine myself looking up at the stars on a balmy summer's evening. It makes you realise how small we are when you stare at them all. My kids love trying to find all the constellations. Great job!
