Pretend.

Pretend.

A Poem by Underground Poet
"

Demise of something that never got started...

"

Our love would be tragic.
but so is my addiction to
straying away from sobriety.

In this voided place, I ask you to pretend,

Close your eyes and pretend.

You can’t make me love you.

But we can pretend.

We can stand close, breathe in each other air. Kiss slowly.

Lay your weary body across my middle, keep those eyes closed.

Pretend.

I will hold you, hold you like it’s the end of the world.

When it’s only the end of your world.

Pretend.

I will make the silence bearable. Breathable.
Full.

I can’t see. You can’t make me see. So keep them eyes closed.

Just feel.
Pretend.

You can’t understand. I won’t explain. I won’t try.

It’s over.

Just let the silence be the explanation. The conversation we should have had.

Pretend.

You can’t make me love you, I can’t make you understand.

We reached the end.
An error unknown.

Lay here, one last time, one last kiss. Let the silence be. I will hold you. Like its the end of the world. But it’s just the end of yours.

You can’t make me love you.
