Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day

A Poem by gram linski

Got battered and abused at home,
got bullied and battered at school,
and then sweet sixteen,
mother dies,
and found an omnivorous,
fist of rage, still fighting till this day
and undefeated, still,
Top of the world, Ma,
Happy Mother's Day xx

i am not good at irony, nor sarcasm :{ its pretty well put to use in your poem "Happy Mother's Day" ... so tragic and deeply emotive to read .. i, personally, am very fortunate to have had an ordinary very middle class home ... with loving and supportive parents ... i can only imagine ...life is far too complex and challenging as it is ... abuse ... bullying ... cycles of anger so many times turned in :( as human beings we loose so much to things like that ... really appreciate you sharing this very honest, straight forward poem ... it says it all in just 9 lines ... the "xx" kisses for mother are killer :(((((( no hint for me in reading to change anything .... powerful stuff gram!

A sharp trauma that can leave a dark mark in someone’s soul. Child abuse can not be excepted, neither expected. Your childhood dipicted here unhappy along with the lose of your mother’s grief! Short but very deep messages, very emotional.

take comfort in knowing that fact gram she is always with you more so at night.
An emotional tale. It's a shame some people are able to have children. Hope you were able to rise above it all. Lydi*

A stark and desperate tale of trauma that leaves indelible marks upon the soul. Short and to the point with eloquency and pathos.

Cheers John, always appreciate your reviews,
That's the trouble with Mother's Day, not everyone can celebrate it. Whilst most mums are decent and loving, you get the others too. There are plenty out there who don't give a damn about their kids. Yes, these are the words of a survivor without doubt.

wow, yes, abuse in the home, getting bullied...and then sweet revenge...the survivor is formed at an early age, and the abused and bullied return the favor...i like the topsy-turvy nature of this.
and really like the reference to James Cagney in White Heat.
