Unravelling Escher's Eyes

Unravelling Escher's Eyes

A Poem by gram linski

There was a thing that fell away
that unfurled itself from my soul
that flew from bones
in gravitas of universal pull
of satellites and space debris
that spiralled outwards in cosmic waves
of under inner / undulations
undulations
disintegration stardust blues
tasting myth and angeldust in a
black hole frown
-
The bat winged metaphor of night
dragged shadows loose in guano coats
of s**t and style
leaves of skin shed - like
scattered crows breaking the dawn
and a fire within
burning within wrecked Autumnal eyes
                                                  sputters and dies
-
the amorphous thing
floated free in the sea of antiquity
a moon god made from
knotted tree     bone     and moss
mist and filigree, sparkling, glinting
in fairy song and remorse
a chunk of something
floating
with eyes shining dying galaxies
silver thread      taut     stretching
to Andromeda dreams
-
gone like smoke
tunnel flesh
blown through cupped hands

Your poem feels gleeful in the pursuit of ghoulishness. The middle verse is an especially fine dig-in of disgusting concepts, artfully decorated with panache. The final verse is a stunning spilling forth of lively imagery that makes it feel like being on a roller coaster of possibilities (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
