The Walk

The Walk

A Poem by gram linski

the flavour of Autumn
golden leaves meting on my tongue
and a sharp whip of wind
blowing cobwebs free
      the homeless spider -
          - fleeing the scene
and a Joseph mist of colour
a rainbow brought to life
shimmering in reflected thousands
of orange and green
with lemon tones and rustic rusts
-
and the ducks
Ah ! man,
those crazy f*****g ducks
all mallard green and attitude
huddled on the concrete step
preferring the rain to the river
the downpour to the swift eddy
of life,
these feet can only paddle so long
tread water so far
and remain tranquil above,
the juggling balls of life, the only sound
splash
splash
splash
and the cold squawk and shiver of the
thoughts of a drowned dreich duck
-
watching the strange dark shape
moving further adrift, footsteps
silent,
           drip
                          drip
                                  drip
-

About
Caged In An Animal's Mind Caged in an animal's mind; No wish to be more or else Than I am; a smile and a grief Of breath that thinks with its blood, Yet straining despite; unsure In my stir .. more..
